Apply to the Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering Major

Students who intend to major in bioproducts and biosystems engineering apply to the major through the College of Science and Engineering (CSE) in their sophomore year. 

Students in College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences (CFANS)

Pre-bioproducts and biosystems engineering students in CFANS will need to transfer to CSE.

(1) Complete the following courses:

  • Calculus I & II (MATH 1271 & 1272 or 1371 & 1372)
  • Calculus-based Physics I & II (PHYS 1301W & 1302W)
  • Chemistry I & II (CHEM 1061/1065 & 1062/1066)
  • General Biology (Biol 1009)
  • Mechanical and Structural Design (BBE 2001)

(2) Complete the Application for Undergraduate Change of College  (must be logged in to MyU to access application) by the following deadlines:

  • October 1 for spring semester
  • March 1 for fall semester

(3) Submit the completed application to a One Stop location


Students in College of Science and Engineering (CSE)

(1) Complete the following courses:

  • Calculus I & II (MATH 1271 & 1272 or 1371 & 1372)
  • Calculus-based Physics I & II (PHYS 1301W & 1302W)
  • Chemistry I & II (CHEM 1061/1065 & 1062/1066)
  • General Biology (Biol 1009)
  • Mechanical and Structural Design (BBE 2001)
