The Department of Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering (BBE) is pleased to announce that Erik Joerres has been selected as the recipient of the 2025 BBE Civil Service/Bargaining Unit Outstanding Service Award. This honor recognizes Erik’s exceptional work performance and meaningful contributions to the department’s mission.
Erik has played a key role in supporting outreach and recruitment efforts, working closely with current students, and coordinating signature events such as the BBE Showcase and Scholarship Gala. Colleagues describe him as a consistently positive presence who creates strong connections across the department and beyond.
As one nomination noted, “His dedicated service to the department is seen amongst the students and peers, and he manages to maintain a pleasant relationship with colleagues, creating a positive work environment.” Another shared that “Erik puts his all into the events he coordinates… He’s loved by the students and is great at staying connected to our alumni and industry partners.”
