Biography
I graduated in Environmental and Sanitary Engineering at the Universidade Federal da Fronteira Sul (UFFS), Erechim - Brazil. While in college, I had different research opportunities. I could work with environmental policy and licensing, road ecology, enzymes and second-generation ethanol production. I also went to Canada, at Lakehead University, in Thunder Bay, as an exchange student for sixteen months. In Canada, I was working with air and water treatment design. I pursued my Master's degree, at the University of Minnesota (UMN), Twin Cities, in the department of Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering and Management. During two years my interested was to optimize microalgae production while recycling the nutrients from dairy wastewater. The final product (sterilized and dried microalgae biomass) was used to conduct taste preference studies in cattle.
Nowadays, I am a Ph.D. student also at the UMN and in the same department. My current research is focused in the different settings and pathways of the nitrogen in the soil and groundwater. My goal is to work with solutions related to water, groundwater, soil and wastewater interactions, providing a safest environment and resources to the ecosystems.
Areas of Interest
Hydrogelogy, Water Quality, Soils, Wastewater Treatment, Nitrate Track
