Hi! I'm Eilee, a senior in the Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering (BBE) program, specializing in bioproducts engineering. I'm excited to dive back into my final year at the University of Minnesota, especially on the beautiful St. Paul campus, after completing a 15-month co-op at Sappi in Cloquet. During my time there, I worked as a chemical engineering intern in the environmental department, focusing mainly on continuous improvement projects. As I shift back to school mode, I am most excited to attend the career fair in the fall as I search for a job in process engineering.
One of the highlights of my final year will be contributing to the student newsletter. I’m passionate about helping my peers gain a deeper understanding of our department and the various opportunities available to them. I am particularly enthusiastic about highlighting student experiences and departmental achievements. Hearing about other students' experiences has been a significant source of inspiration for my own future career, and I hope to offer similar guidance through the newsletter. I believe our department’s strength lies in its tight-knit community, and highlighting those personalized voices in the newsletter can really help forge connections among students.
Outside of academics, I enjoy reading, thrifting, and caring for my houseplants. My favorite book so far this year is The Women by Kristin Hannah. I hope to join a book club this year as a fun extracurricular activity to further explore my passion for reading. My favorite houseplant is the pothos. I also love spending time outdoors whenever the Minnesota weather permits. I'm looking forward to making the most of my final year and contributing to our vibrant BBE community.
