Mentoring a student could be the best part of your day!
Alumni can enroll in one or both of the college’s Mentor Programs.
- To mentor students interested in business, technology or environmental sustainability, please enroll with the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences' Mentor Program.
- To mentor engineering students, please enroll with the College of Science and Engineering's Mentor Program.
Both colleges do a wonderful job of outlining expectations for both the student and the mentor. And, they don't require mentors to be graduates of the University of Minnesota! Your experience might be just the thing an undergraduate student is looking for as they plan their future.
The matches of mentors to students take place in October and the programs run through April.
"I was really nervous about being a mentor. I worried that the student won't adhere to our meeting times. I wondered if she'd take anything away from the advice I gave. But, when it was all said and done, that worrying was for nothing. It was a wonderful experience, and I know that I made an impact!" - Former mentor
